The Gauge O Guild

gog_logo.jpg The Gauge O Guild

The Guild exists to further all forms of railway modelling in 7mm. scale or O gauge track. With over 5500 members including over 500 outside the U.K. the Guild is a focus for O gauge modellers to meet, share and enjoy their mutual interest.

In Europe and in many other parts of the world the scale is 7mm to one foot of the prototype which equates to a scale factor of 43.5 to 1. In the USA, O scale is usually defined as 48 to 1 scale, or quarter inch to the foot. Despite the scale difference, American O scale runs on the same track gauge (32mm or 1.25 inches) as European O gauge.

Guild Publications

Our quarterly Gazette, an all colour magazine of 96 pages, is posted to all members. All Gazettes, from the very first newsletter in 1956 are available to members on line with a searchable index. A newspaper, Guild News, accompanies each Gazette with news of the Guild activities, local group reports and notices of forthcoming events, sales and wants etc. In addition the Guild's comprehensive technical manual is available to members only, and the whole manual is also on line.

Local & National Events

Our shows at Kettering (March), Doncaster (June) and particularly the Guildex convention at Stafford each September, contain layouts to inspire, skilled demonstrators to help you, a bring & buy stand, and numerous trade stands offering the vast range of models and equipment now available in this superb scale. Guildex also features the annual competition and AGM.

Traders' products

Traders now offer a huge range of products for the Gauge O modeller. The Guild website lists over 500 traders' websites with full contact details. The product directory contains over 22,000 products which members can use to find that elusive product be it a complete kit or a part.

The web site has built up a large gallery of over 5,500 pictures of members models including complete layouts and individual models. The gallery continues to expand as members add more examples of their work.

Sales & Wants

Simply hundreds of items for sale to members from top of the range ready-to-run stock to the smallest line side features. If it is not there then just ask using the wants section.

Bring & Buy

The Guild sponsored shows have a bring and buy stand. This enables visitors to bring along models that are then offered for sale.

Slides & Videos

The Guild has a huge library of videos which have been uploaded to a free streaming service for members and the slide collection is in the process of being transferred.

Online Forum

Linked to the Guild website is an online forum where members can ask questions and discuss matters of O gauge interest.
